This is how the new day started in Tallinn, Estonia today at 8:10 on sunrise. The 46-metre Pikk Hermann tower is a vital national symbol. A tradition dictates that whichever nation flies its flag over Pikk Hermann, also rules the country. Luckily since 1991 each day at sunrise, Estonian flag rises above the tower to the tune of the national anthem. The flag was first raised here on December 12, 1918. It’s easy to catch this site on a winters morning since the sunrise is at a more tolerable time.
